Alta fell in love with “Gem’s” style and personality the minute she saw him. The dark grey gelding was discovered at the 2008 HITS Thermal circuit. Rider and trainer Peter Pletcher took Gem over three jumps and instantly liked the gelding’s style and poise. With three derby victories to his credit, Gem hasn’t been a disappointment. “He just keeps getting better and better,” Alta says of her horse.
